One thing I definitely researched before having Cameron was what sort of diaper bag we would carry and what would need to go in it. I didn’t want to be bogged down with everything in life, but I also didn’t want to forget anything. So trying to find that balance was super important. Now that Cameron is a little older, most of the stuff in there still works for us, we just don’t bring as much because we aren’t needing to feed or change her as much as when she was a newborn.
First off the actual diaper bag we have is from target and is an Eddie Bauer diaper bag backpack. Sadly I believe that it’s been discontinued, but I would say going with a diaper bag backpack would be the best way to go.
Now for what we actually put in our diaper bag.
Change of clothes. As a parent, you know your kid is probably going to have an accident, or spit up, or just get dirty so having a change of clothes is always important! But take note, always make sure to double check sizing of that change of clothes so you don’t run into a situation where that change of clothes is too small when you need it.
Diapers. For us, we always brought enough diapers for every hour we expected to be out of the house. Now, we bring about 4-5 since she gets changed a lot less.
Diaper wipes. If you’re bringing diapers, always good to bring wipes. Another note, to double check where you’re at with how many you have. We ran into an issue where I thought I had more in the pack than I did and Cameron graced me with a blowout…fun times.
Wet wipes, or the like. I also like bringing wipes such as dove wipes or water wipes for any messes we may run into. I love dove baby wipes because they work on sensitive skin.
Bottles/cups/milk/formula. Like diapers, I always made sure we had enough formula or milk and bottles made for hour long we would be out. I’ve explained before that unfortunately I wasn’t able to breastfeed so we always had to bring with us her meals since my boobs were useless to her. Now we bring a cup with some juice or water in it and she’s good to go.
Snacks. Once Cameron was on solids, snacks became an important part of our diaper bag. We try to make sure we bring a variety too so that we have options for her.
Toys. Now we try to not bring too many toys with us, but we always pick maybe 1 or 2 depending on where we are going and how long we will be out to keep her entertained.
Miscellaneous. So things like extra pacifiers, blankets, socks, hats, diaper cream, bows, jackets, things that may not need to come with us EVERY trip but on the trips we needed them we wanted to make sure we brought them.
Changing pad. This has been a life saver on more than one occasion. I love being able to lay this out and change her on a clean surface that we brought from home. And it has pockets and zippered sections so it’s even more amazing. Here is the amazon affiliate link to the one we own https://amzn.to/2XLopLr

Did I miss anything? Is there anything you had to have in your diaper bag?
