This past weekend, we had the opportunity to head back to Tallahassee, Florida for a couple days. Tallahassee holds some pretty exciting memories for us as that’s where my husband and I lived, went to school, met, and got married so it was so great to be able to go back and show Cameron around our old stopping grounds.
Now it was a super quick trip, with us arriving Friday evening and heading back out on Sunday morning, but it was still amazing none the less.
Friday once we arrived, we just checked in to our hotel and hung out and chilled in the room until bedtime. We had been in the car for a few hours so Cameron definitely needed to run off some energy before going down for the night.
We stayed at the courtyard by Marriott off I-10 and it did feel weird to not stay closer to FSU campus like we always done before. And by that I mean, we used to live over there by FSU before we moved, so staying on the other side of town was just weird. But it was a great hotel, very clean, and the staff were all wonderful.
Saturday morning we woke up and headed to lucky goat coffee for some caffeine and breakfast. I wasn’t in the mood for coffee, so only my husband got some but he likes the stuff. We also got Cameron a blueberry muffin that she enjoyed.
Once we were done we headed to the Garnet and Gold store to of course stock up on some FSU gear. We all needed some new stuff, my husband and I because ours were a bit old, and Cameron had grown out of all the stuff she owned. So we enjoyed some shopping time and came away with some awesome new stuff, as well as a mini baseball bat that Cameron would not let go and had to have.
Then it was time for lunch, and because we haven’t had Moe’s southwest grill in a while since they didn’t exist where we lived, we went there for lunch. Their cheese dip is amazing, and Cameron had the best time dipping her chips and quesadilla in it.
After lunch we headed to FSU campus just to show Cameron around. Sadly, she fell asleep on our way there, so we decided to drive around town while she napped and looked at some of our old haunts. We drove past by our old house, the bars we used to enjoy hitting up, including the one we met, and we ended up going by the stadium in which we got engaged. By this time Cameron was still asleep so we just kept driving around. My husband wanted some Publix sweet tea, a big staple in Florida, so we ran by publix for that. Cameron then woke up so we went back by the campus to grab some photos. We took her to the infamous westcott fountain in which you take a dip in when you turn 21, or if you’re me you do it when you turn 19 and 21. I also found the brick my parents got me when I graduated from FSU in 2008. Cameron had the best time running around and sticking her hand in the water of the fountain.
Once we were done with FSU and reminiscing, it was time for the whole reason we were in Tallahassee for the weekend. We had a birthday party to attend for one great 3 year old little girl. It was such a fun princess party, and it was even better getting to see a lot of our friends who we hadn’t caught up with since we moved. Cameron enjoyed herself even though she sort of stayed off by herself for most of it. But it was wonderful to help celebrate and see everyone.
We then went to another food staple in Tallahassee for dinner which is Gordo’s Cuban cuisine. Cameron loved their fries and Gordo sauce. And you can’t finish the day without some ice cream from Bruesters. Mommy and Cameron shared a cup of cherry vanilla and it was pretty good.
Sadly, we had to leave out the next morning to head home, but the short and sweet weekend, getting to go down memory lane and see some wonderful people made it so worth every minute we spent there. Can’t wait to take Cameron back over and over again.
