So a little bit ago I wrote about our nighttime and bedtime routine for Cameron.
Now I want to write about my routine at nighttime trying to balance having some down time while still getting things done. I work from 7:00am-4:30pm and then as soon as I’m finished I’m right on to mommy duty, so trying to wind down every evening is something I try hard to do.
Once we get Cameron to bed, which is now anywhere between 7:30-8 I have a few options. Most of the time I end up picking up her toys and cleaning up her play room first since I found trying to do that while she is still awake is counter-productive.
Once I finish picking that up it’s time to get a bit motivated and write a blog post or two. Some nights I’m successful and some nights it takes all my strength to stay awake enough to get myself to bed, so I just do play that by ear. I like to have blog posts stacked up for the times I’m not able to write when I need to.
If I’m successful in writing some blog posts, then I allow myself to watch maybe a half hour of TV depending on what’s on. If I’m watching TV some times I’ll try to do a face mask just to calm my skin. It’s a crazy world out there so the face needs some TLC. Even if I don’t write blog posts and watch a little TV I may throw a mask on. It depends on how my face is looking because I am prone to a little acne so some nights I need a bit more than just a mask.
I’ll admit that I’m bit of an early night person, because of getting up early, and not sleeping great I do find myself crawling into bed at 9pm. Does not mean I’m going to sleep (probably why I have sleep issues). Once I’m in bed I will maybe read some, watch a little YouTube (or a lot) and just try to relax myself enough to fall asleep. I tend to fall asleep about 10-10:30pm. Then it’s pretty much the same routine the next time.
It’s pretty mundane, but I like the feeling of being able to decompress a little bit every evening so that I can recharge for the next day.
Do you do anything special one the kiddos are in bed?
