What do you do when you just can’t think of anything to write?
Sadly, this has happened to me one to many times lately. I normally pull from my own life, but really, not a whole lot has been happening over here. We wake up, go to school/work, come home, have some family time, and go to bed. And normally on weekends, we try to find things to do, but this is the ever time of sicknesses around each and every corner, so normally one or more of us has been down lately. And while I could talk about things like getting sick, and what to do, I also know I’ve had posts like that in the the past and I’m trying hard not to do a lot of repeats. Want to be able to give people new content. And, I could post another blog about something Disney related, but we haven’t been to Disney in over a month (shocking I know), so there really isn’t anything to talk about.
So, when I have that writers block, and ideas aren’t coming to me this is what I do.
Pinterest baby: I go to Pinterest and try to search about blogging ideas, and I keep searching, and maybe changing up some words until I find something I think I can be able to write about. Pinterest has so many pins and ideas it’s a great way to find some new post ideas.
What have I been googling?: Now this one is something that I haven’t used very often, but when I get stuck, I start looking at what I’ve been googling to see if a post idea is hiding in my searches. I figure, if I have questions about if my child has or is or is not doing something, or has a symptom, maybe someone else would have the same question, therefore if I write about it then I could be helping someone.
Taking a step back: Now I know with writing blogs, if you are utilizing it to make money so you need the posts to do so, then this one may not be a good idea, but since I’m not quite there yet, if I have writers block, I just take a step back. Take a little break, and try to think up some ideas. Normally, I do have some back-logged posts because I like to stay ahead of the game, so even if I take a step back, I do have things I can publish.
Looking at your inspiration on Social Media: Take a look at the other blogs you follow, or the content creators on YouTube, or those profiles you follow on Instagram and Facebook, if you look up to these people, they may be talking about something that you’re going through too and you can use that as a post idea. Now obviously, if you get an idea, make sure to give credit, where credit is due.
Social Media in general: We are in this day in age, where just about everyone and their mother is on some sort of social media platform. Go out there and search, see if there is anything that peaks your interest that you can use as a post.
Revamp an oldie: If nothing else, see if you have an older post that could use a touch-up, or that needs to be updated due to the facts/stories within the post. A little post makeover could help during those slow idea times.
So there it is, a post about what to do when you can’t think of things to post. Hopefully, there are some ideas out there that you can use.
