    • What we watch in this house

Posted at 3:30 pm by CS, on April 11, 2019

Before I became a mom I always said I would try to limit my child’s screen time because I know how bad it can be for a kid. Once I became a mom I realized how important screen time was for my own sanity and to able to get stuff done around the house. Yes, you can judge all you want but sometimes it was easier to put something on then put up a fight. And it’s not like we are spending 24/7 with the TV on and her butt in front of the screen. Most days it’s just noise in the background while we read, or play with flash cards or the other toys she had accumulated.

What I will say, is that when we do put shows or movies on for her to watch I try to make sure they are some what educational.

Here are a few of our current favorites.

We will start with the guilty pleasure, and by that I mean it’s a show that keeps her happy but does not have a whole lot of educational value. I believe she likes it due to thinking the main character is cute. It’s also a movie and a Netflix series and that’s The Boss Baby. A show about a secret baby corporation that attempts to keep and grow baby love. It’s comical and cute and like I said I think she likes it because the main baby is adorable.

Bubble Guppies- Not only does each episode teach a little something, but the music is so dang catchy. I find myself with songs from this show stuck in my head more often than I would like to admit.

Sofia the First– I think it’s great that Sofia is always trying to help and lend a hand and show others to be a good friend and be polite. With some catchy songs too.

Doc Mcstuffins– Teaching lessons and showing kids how to use their imagination. And yet another one with catchy tunes…see a pattern going on, we really like our music in this house.

Daniel Tiger- A take on mister Rogers neighborhood, this shows all about little life lessons and some problem solving.

Some others we put on not as often but sporadically: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Splash and Bubbles, Vampirina, Paw Patrol, Trolls (the series), Sesame Street.

And because Netflix is mean and removes things kids love, these are things she used to love but then got removed so she only gets to watch them when we remember we own the DVD: Moana, Trolls, Sing, Finding Dory.

Also preparing for a life of a Disney lover, we also watch Frozen because who wouldn’t want those songs stuck in their head.

Do you have shows that help you not lose your mind? Share them in the comments!
