What else is there to do rather than stay at home during those Florida summers? When we moved back to Florida I knew it was going to be hot, and not only hot but humid too, but with a toddler you can’t just stay at home and do nothing all day, everyone will go stir crazy.
So I did what probably everyone else did and tried to figure out what I could do to beat the Florida heat. Here’s a couple things that I’ve found and we’ve tried out that Cameron seems to love.
Ice play– now this is one that can be done at home but it allows for so much playtime. Just let the child play with ice. It keeps them busy and cools them down. And then it’s like they get double the play since when the ice melts it becomes a puddle or a pool of water. Cameron did this during the 4th of July and I don’t think I’ve seen her have that much fun with frozen water.
Pool– this one is sort of a given if you live anywhere warm. Go to the pool!! Hopefully if you don’t have access right in your back yard, you can go to your local Y or athletic club, or housing development and gain access from a membership. Just don’t forget your sunscreen and always be safe with floaties, and other precautions.
Indoor play places/gyms/playgrounds like: Time in, little gym, my little town of Orlando. We took Cameron to Time In and she had the best time, she met other kids, got to get out of the house and play, and the day we went they painted flags for Independence Day so she also got to do crafts. It was also very inexpensive which is another great thing as well. I’ll link the places I’ve researched below.
Do you have any must-do’s to beat the heat?
